The IPC Main Event is coming soon

IPC Main Event 2011

With just about 3 weeks to go, the India Poker Championship (IPC) is gearing up for its big year-end celebration! There's plenty of excitement about the December edition of the IPC, not in the least of which is the 30k Main Event which will see the crowning of this new season's India Poker Champion.

There are a few more firsts for the IPC with the upcoming edition. December marks the start of the new poker calendar for the Championship and for the first time since its inception in March 2010, the IPC will do a 5 day event comprising among others the Main Event. This too will feature a new and slightly higher buy-in at INR 30,000 than last year's inaugural Main Event (INR 25,000). A whole host of players from across the country are expected to descend upon Goa to fight it out at the Main Event and lay claim to the title of India's best poker player by winning the Main Event. Let's not forget that this is that one tournament in the year that every player wants to win and be crowned the best of them all - the India Poker Champion!

To add further incentive, there is a minimum guarantee being provided on just the Main Event for INR 25,00,000! In addition to all that prize money that the India Poker Champion gets, he/she will also receive a year-long sponsorship deal worth INR 2,00,000 from the IPC to utilise across any future events in the forthcoming season. And certainly a star will be in the making as the India Poker Champion will also be featured on the cover of the next issue of Gutshot magazine!

Including the Main Event, the guarantees on all tournaments total a massive INR 50,00,000! That number, of course, does not take into account the Mega Satellite (Turbo) called the 6.5k Half and Half where, as the name suggests, half the buy-in will go into the main prize pool and the other half will go into a seat pool. Depending on how much is collected in the seat pool, the top finishers will receive a seat worth INR 30,000 into Saturday's Main Event! So basically 1 top finisher for every 10 players that take part in the Half and Half will get this seat over and above the cash prizes.

The next tournament is a familiar one for the regulars at the IPC which is the Double Bubble (DB) although this time's DB features a slightly higher buy-in at INR 7,500. Then comes the Weekend Kickoff, a freezeout which has a buy-in of INR 15,000. The Main Event with a buy-in of INR 30,000 follows and this is a 2-day event with the final table taking place at 6pm on Sunday, 4th December. And later on that same Sunday evening is the final event of the IPC weekend, the 12k Headhunters which is a bounty tournament where a player can earn INR 2000 for every knockout!
