The World Professional Poker Tour comes to Goa
With Goa quickly becoming the hub for tournament poker action in this country, it is no surprise that international brands are showing interest in venturing to these shores. The latest entrant is the World Professional Poker Tour (WPPT) which is a series of eight international poker tournaments which will take place across globe including some exotic destinations like Egypt, Cambodia and Slovenia all of which culminates in the grand final which will take place in Las Vegas.
Closer to home, the WPPT makes its first stop at the Clubs Card room in Casino Carnival in Panjim, Goa for its inaugural tournament. Their Main Event will feature a buy-in of INR 115,000 (AU$ 2200) and will begin from 22 Feb in the Clubs card room onboard Casino Carnival. And when these guys claim its a Deep Stack tournament, they absolutely mean it. This is a 4 day event where players begin with a starting stack of 50,000 chips. Each blind level will be 60 minutes long. This kind of structure allows player to really spend quality time at the felt. Even a few beats are something that a player could conceivably recover from given the nature of this tournament. So huge value for players in terms of getting a truly deep structure!
Outside of the Main Event, there are also 3 side events which will feature buy-ins ranging from INR 5000 - 15000. There is also a by-invitation-only High Rollers event with a buy-in of INR 250,000. Over and above this, there are multiple daily satellites for seats into the Main Event. So plenty of options available across buy-ins for players.
As the organisers have mentioned, a WPPT “Deep Stack” event guarantees that players will enjoy a fabulous poker tournament experience, whether they are a rookie or a pro.
