Aces roundup 0001

Aces Unlimited kicked off its new season at the Pride Poker Room aboard Casino Pride in Panjim, Goa from 19 – 22 April, 2012. It had a Main Event featuring a buy in of INR 25,000, along with 2 side events. The weekend had a lot on offer, including INR 1,386,000 in prizes.

The first event of the weekend was the INR 5,000 Freezeout. In heads up action, it was Goa tournament regular Sumit Asrani against Amin Rosani. Going into the final hand, Asrani had a massive 10:1 chiplead, which proved insurmountable for Rosani. In the last hand, Rosani moved all in with {K-Spades}{8-Clubs} against Asrani and his {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}. A paired board {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} meant that Asrani’s Ace kicker was good to take down the 5k Freezeout and he received a payout of INR 100,000.

Next on the bill was the INR 12,000 Bounty. It was Wasim Rozani taking on Masood Shaikh in heads up action. Rozani came to the final table as chip leader and eventually had all the chips in play. In the last hand, Shaikh’s {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} was out kicked by Rozani’s {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. Rozani took home INR 160,000 for outlasting the field at the 12k Bounty.

The featured tournament of the Aces Unlimited weekend was the INR 25,000 Freezeout (Main Event). After a grueling grind for over 12 hours, the final hand was dealt between Jasven Saigal and Husain Lakda. On a flop of {8-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs} Lakda moved all in out of position with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and was behind Saigal, who made the call and tabled bottom pair with {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}. No help for Lakda on the turn {Q-Clubs} nor river {4-Spades}, meant that Saigal would take down the 25k Freezeout and received INR 350,000, in addition to being crowned the Aces Unlimited Main Event Champion.
