Golden Aces League just hosted its inaugural tournament in Goa at the Pride Poker Room aboard Casino Pride in Panjim, Goa, between 2 - 6 May, 2012. The weekend featured a Super Deep Stack Main Event with a buy-in of INR 25,000, along with two side events.

Kicking things off was the INR 5,000 Re-buy + Addon. 21 entries ensured that the prizepool reached INR 207,000. The final hand saw Rahul Lal taking on Goa tournament veteran Husain Lakda. Lal had a monster chip lead and in the last hand, he check called Lakda's all in shove. Lakda's {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} was trailing Lal's {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades} on the flop {4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts} and the turn {a-Hearts} pretty much sealed the deal for Lal. As the inconsequential river {7-Hearts} fell, Lal was rest assured that he'd be going home with a INR 115,000 payday.

Day 2 saw 25 hopefuls enter the INR 15,000 Bounty. Madhav Gupta went up against Dyuthi Dhar in heads up action. Dhar 3 bet shoved all in with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Gupta tank called him with {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. The flop {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} gave Gupta his over pair and the lead. The turn {5-Diamonds} and river {a-Hearts} didn't change much and Gupta walked out of the 15k Bounty INR 125,000 richer.

The big draw for the weekend was the 25k Freezeout Main Event. 16 players ponied up the buy-in and Lawrence Melwin and Jasven Saigal went head to head for the title. In the last hand, Saigal moved all in holding {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and was quickly called by Melwin and his {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. The board {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} just reiterated that Saigal had lost this battle and Melwin went home the proud owner of a Tissot watch, the Golden Aces trophy and received a payout of INR 120,000.
