Kalia victorious at PokerGuru Main Event 0001

The PokerGuru Tour (PGT) returned for its penultimate edition of Season 2 from 25-28 October, 2012 at the Royale Card Room aboard Casino Royale, anchored on the Mandovi river at Panjim, Goa. The weekend featured 3 side events and a Main Event with a buy-in of INR 30,000.

Kicking things off was the INR 5,000 Re-Entry. This event saw a total of 164 entries at the end of the re-entry and late registration period. A long heads up battle ensued between Rishad Badami and Ishan Panjwani. Badami entered the duel with a 4:1 chip lead, but when the last hand was dealt, the tables had turned and Panjwani called Badami's all in move holding {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} against Badami's {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Panjwani managed to make a pair on the {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} board and took down the pot. He cashed for INR 271,000 for his showing at the 5k Re-Entry.
Bringing in the weekend was the INR 7,000 Bounty tournament. 119 players entered this tournament and in the end it was Shridhar Kumar and Vinod KK taking on each other in heads up. Vinod KK moved all in with {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} and got called by Kumar's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. No Aces on the board {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} meant that Kumar would ship the 7k Bounty and took home a prize of INR 200,000.

The big draw for the weekend was the INR 30,000. 82 players ponied up the buy in for this tournament in hopes of taking home the biggest share of the prizepool. Pulkit Kalia and Karan Jain went head to head to decide the champion and after a long duel, the winner was decided in back to back hands.

In the first, Kalia moved all in holding AsJd and got called Jain's Ad6d. The board {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} was kind to Kalia and he doubled up. In the next hand, Jain moved all in with pretty much the same hand {A-Spades}{6-Hearts} and he was dominated by Kalia's {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Kalia made a straight on the river with the board reading {3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and clinched the tournament. For besting the field, he received a payout of INR 850,000 along with the PGT winner's trophy.

The INR 66,000 6-Max High Rollers concluded the activities for the weekend. 35 players entered this tournament and Nepal's Adarsh Limbu and Delhi's Kunal Chandra were the last two players standing. In the final hand, Chandra raised it to 20000 from the button which was min-raised by his opponent. Chandra called to see the flop {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds} which was checked around. On the turn {J-Spades}, Limbu moved all in for 300,000 and he got a call. Chandra's QdJd was ahead of Limbu's {Q-Spades}{7-Hearts} and with a brick on the river {6-Spades}, Chandra took down the High Roller for a cash of INR 1,050,000 along with a Tag Heuer watch.

The last edition of Season 2 will take place from 13-16 December, 2012.
