Sumit Sapra Finishes 16th In The PokerStars LIVE Asia Jeju Red Dragon 2018 Megastack Event
PokerStars LIVE Jeju Red Dragon 2018 features 20 events taking place from 30th November - 9th December with a colossal ₩2.6 Billion (~US$2.3 Million) in guaranteed prizes. Since its inception in 2008, the tournament series has grown leaps and bounds to see 1,308 players and over HK$17 Million (US$2.1 Million) last year. The highlight tournament, the Red Dragon event starts today and runs till December 9 with a ₩1 Billion(~US$890,000) guaranteed prize pool.
Following are the guaranteed events of PokerStars LIVE Jeju Red Dragon 2018:
- Super High Roller – November 30 to December 2 – ₩1 Billion guaranteed
- Baby Dragon – December 1 – ₩100 Million guaranteed
- NLH – December 2 to 8 – ₩200 Million guaranteed
- High Roller – December 3 to 4 – ₩300 Million guaranteed
- Red Dragon – December 5 to 9 – ₩1 Billion guaranteed
Yesterday was an important day at Asia Jeju Red Dragon with three huge events coming to a close. They were the ₩12 Million High Roller event, the ₩2.2Million NLH event and the ₩800K Megastack event.
China's Yin Gui Li shipped the ₩12M High Roller event which saw a field of 95 entries yielding a guaranteed prize pool of ₩1,073,500,000. This was Li's maiden PokerStars LIVE title and also his highest career cash for ₩285,010,000 (INR 1,81,61,264). India’s Kalyan Chakravarthy was running strong and made it to Day 2 but unfortunately had to crash out of the tournament without getting into the money.
China’s Jian Biao Zhong won the ₩2.2 Million NLH event out of a field of 151 entries for a mammoth ₩70,410,000 (INR 44,86,630). He overpowered China's Xin Jin in heads-up who won ₩57,950,000 for the runner-up position.
The ₩800K Megastack event:
The ₩800K Megastack event was a two-day event which saw 227 entries which upped the guaranteed prize pool to ₩158,900,000. There were 4 Indian players in the fray; Adda52 Team pro Kunal Patni, Sumit Sapra, Abhinav Iyer and Zarvan Tumboli. Only Sapra was able to make it to Day 2 where the field was reduced to 40 players.
Sumit Sapra won the PSPC Platinum Pass this year in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Korea. He also had a 2nd place finish in the Welcome Event at WPT Vietnam for INR 5 Lakh and a 3rd place finish in the High Roller at APL Vietnam for INR 26 Lakh. In the ₩800K Megastack event, Sapra had to settle for 16th place earning ₩1,985,000 (INR 1,25,551).
In the end, it was Bin Sun who beat Junhao Hong in heads-up to win a massive ₩28,000,000 (INR 17.8 Lakh). Here's the official final table result of the ₩800K Megastack event:
