Abhishek Goindi wins the Golden Aces Main Event

[user204797]

After coming close several times in past tournaments, Abhishek Goindi finally went the distance in tonight's 20k Super Deepstack Main Event at Golden Aces Poker League. Despite taking a few hits in the tournament, he gamely hung on to be the last man standing taking home that cool winner's trophy for his efforts!

Abhishek Goindi entered the final table with second in chips and he ensured that he finished up with all of them eventually. He ran all over the Main Event's 9-handed final table by picking up 6 eliminations. It was a long 10-hour grind but Goindi made it through with playing solid poker.

PokerNews India would like to extend its congratulations to Abhishek on his fine victory as well to all the players who made the money tonight.

Shyam Shahani is first runner up

Shahani with a 7bb stack managed to get a double up but soon after his all in was being called by goindi who tabled {q-Hearts}{10-Spades} against Shahani's {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

The board {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}gave Goindi a straight and eliminated Shahani in second place.

Husain Lakda is 2nd runner up

Abhishek Goindi from the small blind raised it to 23000, Lakda made it 65000, Goindi four bet shoved 2,80,000 to which Lakda snapped.

Lakda:{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Goindi:{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} did not help Lakda who was sent steaming out of the tournament.

From the button Winrow shoved his now depleted stack of 30000 and saw a call by Abhishek Goindi from the small blind.

Winrow: {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Goindi: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

It seems like nothing could go wrong for Goindi as the board {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} gets him a trip aces and ends Winrow's long grind tonight in 4th place.

Lawrence Melwin takes 5th

Lawrence Melwin

Last night's runner up Melwin shoved his stack of 21000 from the small blind which was called by Abhishek Goindi in the big blind.

Melwin: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Goindi: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Goindi got the better of him when the board {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds} did not help Melwin's cause as he exits in 5th place.
