Rahul Bhatia wins the $1100 WPPT Colombo Main Event

[user204797]

He started the final table as chipleader and fittingly enough Rahul Bhatia ended up as the winner of the $1100 Main Event here at the World Professional Poker Tour's Dollar Poker Festival here in Colombo.

The young man from Gurgaon, India was more than twice the next player in chips at the start of the final table and was patiently accumulating chips and consolidating his lead. However a huge hand against Rathveh De Livera whittled his stack to a third of its original strength. But Bhatia persevered and while he did chop top prize in the end, it was a well fought battle to get into a situation where he could play headsup for the title against runnerup Anu Meddegoda.

PokerNews India would like to extend its congratulations to Rahul Bhatia for his well deserved victory!

Rahul Bhatia {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Anu Meddegoda {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The board {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} gives Rahul Bhatia a full boat and that means that local boy Anu Meddegoda will take home the runner-up trophy at this Main Event.

From the small blind Rathveh De Livera raises to 50000 and next to him in the big blind Patrick M moves all-in. A snapcall from De Livera who shows {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and is second best to Patrick's {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

But the board decides to script a different ending with {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} giving De Livera top pair on the flop and he stay ahead after that lucky catch to take down the hand eliminate Patrick M in 4th place. He will take home $2,500 for his efforts tonight.
And its now down to 3-way action.
